Peru faces a context of high levels of poverty, inequality and informal employment, which have deepened after the pandemic and limit people’s access to social protection and quality jobs. To respond to these challenges, the European Union launched the program “Towards a Future with Equality” – Social Peru, implemented by IILA (the Italian-Latin American International Organization), FIAP and GIZ from Germany. The program aims to strengthen the social protection system, improve employment policies and promote the formalization of enterprises and workers. It works with key institutions such as MIDIS, MTPE, MIMP, SUNAT, SUNAFIL, PRODUCE and MEF, with a cross-cutting focus on gender, interculturality and territoriality.
